Reopen the OTA: “It’s better than nothing.” :)

The founder of Scientific Blogging, Hank Campbell, posted this cheeky endorsement of the Science Cheerleader’s push to reopen the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment with a mechanism for public participation in major science policy discussions.

Hoorah! Support from a science savvy Republican!

I had to choose between the “it’s better than nothing tone” versus “it’s better than giving stimulus money to the NSF so they can watch more porn” tone. I chose (a) because we may want someone from the NSF to write for us some day but these OTA guys will be too busy enjoying unicorn lunches and golfing with lobbyists to write science.

No, wait, that was the old OTA. The new one will be AWESOME. :) Provided they let you or someone else with the right mindset run it.
