Who manufactured the USA flag that’s on the moon?

Sears. We didn’t know that because “NASA didn’t want Sears to be another Tang”. (Why not? What the heck was Tang without NASA?)

And did you know that when “Buzz Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface, he had to make sure not to lock the Eagle’s door because there was no outer handle”? (Disclosure: One of my first cars also had no outer handles. I had to climb through the hatchback to enter. It also had a little “challenge” with its catalytic converter that nearly poisoned myself and my passengers. And the stick shift literally dislodged from it’s base while I was shifting gears on I-95. Ah, the memories. But I digress.)

Learn nine more things you probably didn’t know about the Apollo 11 moon landing on Popular Science’s “Ten things you didn’t know about the Apollo 11 moon landing”. Monday, 7/20, marks the 40th anniversary of our first mission to the moon. I was nine days old. Will I/we witness another moon landing? Debate to follow, right here. Send in your thoughts and we’ll include them in the debate.

  • Rather than contemplate “will we live to see another moon landing” would it not be more appropriate to discuss “will we live to see the next major science project which will captivate the entire nation”?
