ScienceCheerleader.com is currently seeking interns! Now’s your chance to be part of the coolest Science Cheerleading squad in the history of mankind.
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
-Online research to scout and interview procheerleaders and athletes-turned-scientists
-Help develop and implement plans to promote the site using e-newsletters, social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and other online marketing tools
-Research and write about efforts to engage the public in science, science research, and science policy. Reports should include blog entries, images and video clips of yourself participating in such efforts, whenever possible (a chance to be a star!)
-Basic graphic design, if intern is qualified
-Basic video editing, if intern is qualified
Qualified interns will have first-hand access to the Founder and the Squad. The interns will gain valuable lessons on researching, writing, editing, marketing, public relations, project management, and other facets of online publishing. And, the interns will be invited to participate in planning, strategy and operational meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to sharpen skills, get published, and make contacts; or, for the seasoned volunteer, an excellent opportunity to be part of a very cool effort that benefits society and science.
Qualities we seek: self-motivator, multi-tasker, organized and detail-oriented, excellent online social network skills, strong writer, FUNNY. Ideal but not necessary: interest in or knowledge of science, experience with i-movie or other video editing software, familiarity with online publishing tools, experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or other graphic design programs.
